Biography
Michael A. Maxey
Michael A. Maxey Jr. received his bachelors degree from the University of California, Berkeley in 1993. He earned his Juris Doctorate degree from Chapman University School of Law in 2002 with certificates of emphasis in Tax Law and Real Estate, Land Use and Environmental Law. He was admitted to the State Bar of California in 2002, and later admitted to the United States Supreme Court and the United States District Courts of the Northern, Central, and Eastern Districts of California. He is a member of the Contra Costa County Bar Association.
He has represented clients throughout California and in Canada. Mr. Maxey advocates on behalf of clients in both trial and appellate courts, as well as in alternative resolution proceedings. He is also a licensed real estate broker.
Prior to becoming a solo practitioner, he was an associate attorney at Schofield & Associates PLC in San Ramon, California, Stevens, Drummond & Gifford in Walnut Creek, California, and the Law Offices of Robert R. Powell in San Jose, California.
During law school, Mr. Maxey was an extern with the United States Bankruptcy Court, Central District, an extern with the Orange County Counsel’s office, and a law clerk for the Orange County Public Defender. He was also the Vice Chair of the Chapman University School of Law Moot Court Honor Board, Chairman of the Tax Law Society, a Contributing Editor of the Nexus Journal of Opinion, a member of the Executive Board of the Land Resources Society and a participating student advocate for the law school's Tax Clinic for Low Income Taxpayers.
